Almost two decades as a staff writer and editor at\u00a0Canadian Living <\/strong><\/em>\u2014<\/em> one of Canada\u2019s largest periodicals \u2014 taught me how\u00a0to tackle all sorts of stories \u2014 full-length features, columns, first-person essays, short profiles, DIY how-tos, and quick-hit sidebars and service pieces \u2014 and sharpened my research, interviewing, copy-editing, proofreading and display-writing skills, as well. Planning lineups made me a media watcher who keeps an eye out for coming trends, new contributors and the Canadian angle. Shaping each piece helped me offer readers more than one entry point on any page. And, for me, working with writers, words and ideas to tell any kind of story was, and is, simply the best.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve also continued freelance writing and editing.
