(The picture of one happy class brandishing their five-minute kites, below, was provided by Austen Gilliland.)<\/p>\n<p>When I\u2019m designing and writing any how-to piece for kids \u2014 or assigning and editing one by another designer \u2014 I ensure that the listed materials are economical (recycled and free is even better), available, appropriate and complete, and that the method is the least-complicated but best way to achieve a successful and satisfying result for the maker.
